General information

What is the Big Red Nose Day Get Together?

The Big Red Nose Day Run Together is your chance to make your miles matter. Because this year, we’re challenging you to run, walk, jog or plod 50 miles in March. Up and down the country, hundreds of people will be running in their communities to raise money and make a difference for people in the UK and across the world.

Sign up, get your free t-shirt and ask your friends and family for sponsorship.

Do I have to be a runner to take part in the challenge?

No - of course not! Many of us will be walking, jogging or plodding our way to the finish mile.

This is your challenge. Whether you walk, hop, cycle, pogo or swim, you’ll be making a difference with every mile.

Registration

How do I start?

It takes three easy steps to join The Big Red Nose Day Run Together

Step 1: Join the Official Facebook group(opens in new window) to share your achievements, meet others, and follow Big Red Nose Day Get Together updates.

Step 2: Fill out this form(opens in new window) to sign up for your free t-shirt.

Step 3: Set up your Facebook Fundraiser(opens in new window).

Is there a registration fee?

The Big Red Nose Day Get Together is completely FREE to enter. We hope you use this challenge as an opportunity to fundraise for Comic Relief and help fund projects within the UK and around the world.

Is there a registration deadline?

To get those miles in and receive your free challenge t-shirts, we ask participants to sign up by 10 March. This gives plenty of time to lace up those trainers, get the miles in, and start collecting those pounds for Comic Relief.

Can I sign up as a team?

Yes, of course! Each participant needs to register for their t-shirt separately, but you can all share one Facebook fundraiser page.

How do I register for a t-shirt?

Check out the pinned post on the Facebook group, or click here(opens in new window) to register for your free challenge t-shirt.

When will my t-shirt arrive?

T-shirts may take between 7 to 10 days to arrive following registration. If you haven’t received your t-shirt after 14 days, please get in touch with us at fundraising@comicrelief.com(opens in new window).

Fundraising

How do I fundraise?

Share and shout to friends, family, and neighbours and let the world know about the amazing challenge you’ve set for yourself!

In need of some more inspiration to help boost your fundraising? You can find more ideas to fundraise on our website.

Or why not write a post on our Facebook group? Ask other teammates how they are fundraising to gain inspiration!

What is the fundraising target?

We’ve suggested a fundraising target of £155 - that’s £5 every day in March. Too easy? Why not raise your target to £200, £500, or even a whopping £1000?!

You can change your fundraising target at any time – by going to your fundraiser and selecting ‘edit goal’.

Where will my fundraising go?

We believe that a just world, free from poverty, is possible and that those closest to the issues have the best solutions. We partner with amazing projects and organisations to tackle some of the biggest challenges society faces today. To find out more about the amazing projects Comic Relief supports, visit our What your money does page.

Is there a deadline to complete fundraising?

Your Facebook fundraiser will automatically close on 10  April – but you can extend this anytime by going to your fundraising page, selecting ‘edit’ and then changing the end date.

Completing the challenge

Is there a deadline to complete the challenge?

The 50 miles in March commences on the 1st of March and will be running all the way through 31 March.

But this is your challenge, so complete your 50 miles whenever suits you! Confident runner – why not aim to get your miles in by Red Nose Day on 18th March? Then you could even stretch your goal to an extra 10, 20 or even 50 miles by the end of the month.

What happens if I can’t complete the 50 miles challenge?

The only thing that matters is that you challenge yourself. Do as much as you can. Every pound raised and mile covered will make a difference!

Collecting Donations

Can friends and family who don’t have Facebook donate to me?

Yes - The safest and easiest way for friends and family (who don’t have Facebook) to donate to your page is to donate to your personal bank account directly, and then you can donate through to your own page on their behalf.

You can also set up a JustGiving page(opens in new window).

Is my money safe to pay through Facebook?

Facebook ensures encryption to its payment processing systems for all fundraisers. The recipients, Comic Relief, will not see the details of the credit or debit card you used to donate. While there’s always a slight risk that your data could be stolen on any site, Facebook is proven to be just as safe as any other popular online payment system for making donations.

Someone donated to my page by accident. Can I issue them a refund?

Unfortunately, we cannot issue refunds through Facebook. However, accidental donors can request a refund from Facebook themselves by following these steps below:

  1. Ask the donor to follow this link(opens in new window).

  2. Select ‘I donated to a fundraiser on Facebook’.

  3. Select ‘I want a refund for my donation(s)’.

  4. Select ‘I donated by accident’ and request a refund.
