Red Nose Day – or Rode Neuzen Dag – takes place in Belgium for the second time this weekend. A live TV fundraiser on Saturday 3rd December is the grand finale to an action packed week – which has included celebrity challenges, musical performances, live comedy and Red Noses being sold at over 1,000 location across the Flanders region in Belgium.
A whole host of actors, comedians and artists have been getting involved in the activities, including the Belgium national football team holding a dedicated Red Nose Day football match last week, as well as a special performance from Craig David at a Red Nose Day concert. Even the Royal Family have done their part, with one member auctioning a weekend stay at her holiday home.
Licensed by Comic Relief UK, Red Nose Day in Belgium (Rode Neuzen Dag) was launched for the first time in December 2015 and raised an astounding 3.8 million euros. 20% of the money raised by Rode Neuzen Dag is distributed to projects in some of the world’s poorest communities by Comic Relief UK, whilst the rest is used to support young people struggling with mental health problems in Belgium.
