4th March 2017: Yesterday, Rock Choir, the world’s largest contemporary choir, surprised passengers at city airports across the UK by putting on a series of pop up choir performances to raise funds for this year’s Red Nose Day campaign.
British Airways’ customers arriving at London Heathrow, Leeds Bradford, and Glasgow International airports, were treated to an hour of some of the nation’s favourite songs performed by local members of Rock Choir.
One of this year’s iconic noses, DJ Boogie, also came out to surprise arriving guests as he joined in the singing fun at Heathrow T5.
Rock Choir Communications Manager, Jeanette Blamire, said: “We have always been great supporters of Comic Relief and were delighted to get involved in this year’s Red Nose Day. It has been great fun using our singing talents to surprise passengers after their long flights whilst raising money for people living incredibly tough lives right here in the UK and across Africa.”
British Airways’ community relations lead, Mary Brew, said: “As long standing partners of Comic Relief, we are always proud to support Red Nose Day. It was great fun watching customers and staff singing along and dancing to the well-known tunes.”
Comic Relief is calling on the generous people of the UK to once again fundraise and help change lives across the region, UK and Africa. A whole host of comedians and celebrities are supporting this year’s Red Nose Day on Friday 24th March. Red Nose Day will culminate in a night on the BBC as a host of comic favourites from Joe Lycett to French and Saunders, preside over a mammoth night of live comedy, sketches, music moments, fundraising films and more.
Even the Noses themselves are gagging to get involved as they become characters on a cool digital comic strip game on rednoseday.com with Professor Stephen Hawking, Warwick Davies, Harry Hill and Katie Price among those providing the voices. There’s also a host of famous faces modelling the brand new official Red Nose Day T-Shirt range, including David Walliams and Ellie Taylor.
