Having brought endless laughs to the masses through their legendary ‘Innuendo Bingo’ feature, BBC Radio 1’s Scott Mills & Chris Stark have been challenged with keeping the nation laughing by taking on Radio 1’s 24 Hour LOL-a-thon for Red Nose Day from Tuesday 14th March.
The big question is – can Scott & Chris keep listeners laughing for 24 hours? You’ll have to keep listening to BBC Radio 1 to find out!
The duo will take-over Radio 1 airwaves as they broadcast a specially extended show from 4pm onwards. Radio 1 listeners will be powering the LOL-a-thon as they send in their favourite jokes for Scott and Chris to read out across the 24 hours. The duo will be helped in their endeavours by fellow Radio 1 presenters as well as special guests, who will be stopping by to read out jokes and prolong the Lols.
They’re both feeling incredibly inspired having recently visited Depaul, a leading youth homelessness charity who provide accommodation and skills services, to learn about the issues young people face trying to move forward in their lives and how Comic Relief funding is helping. They will be encouraging their listeners to keep them going and raise much needed cash this Red Nose Day by sponsoring them for just £3.
Scott Mills said: “This is going to be great but also really hard! I mean, I can’t remember a joke I heard 24 minutes ago let alone tell them for 24 hours?! Me and Chris aren’t comedians so we’re really, really going to need our listeners to help get us through the 24 hours. What’s the one about a man walking in to a bar again? HELP!”
Chris Stark said: “You can always rely on the Radio 1 listeners to help and support us, and trust me we’re really going to need it! And while we’re having a laugh, we’ll be raising money for a great cause that’s close to our hearts too – amazing!
Throughout the week the audience will hear more personal stories from young people affected by homelessness and learn how money raised for Red Nose Day is helping to change lives. All the money raised will be used to help change countless lives, both here in the UK and across the world’s poorest communities.
