Sport Relief is back and Kingsmead School is ready and raring to go thanks to GB Long Jumper JJ Jegede.
The secondary school in Enfield teamed up with JJ Jegede on Tuesday 12th January in a bid to encourage schools across London to do their bit, join in the fun and games and raise money for Sport Relief.
Pupils and teachers at Kingsmead School took part in a mass warm-up and practical session with JJ Jegede in their hall to loosen up and kick-off preparations for their Sport Relief Mile in March.
Last Sport Relief, Kingsmead School raised an incredible £1,413.14 with pupils and staff all taking part in their own Sport Relief Mile. The money the school raised will help to fund projects right here in London and across the UK.
Pupil Tyler Karakand, 13, said, “I loved doing the warm-up and PE lesson with JJ Jegede. It was loads of fun and now I can’t wait to do the Mile. Having him at my school was really exciting; it makes me realise why PE is so important.”
Like Kingsmead School, hundreds of schools across the region will be doing the Sport Relief Mile on Friday 18th March. Teachers can get started by signing up for a free school fundraising kit. It’s full of fundraising ideas, posters, balloons and stickers, as well as learning resources to help pupils understand where the money goes. Just head to sportrelief.com/schools.
There are lots of other ways to get involved in Sport Relief: at school, in the workplace and at events in the local area. From Friday 18th to Sunday 20th March 2016 the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games are back and the whole of London will walk, run, swim or cycle itself proud to raise vital cash to help people living incredibly tough lives.
